We had a very successful first session today at the Fremont Main Library!
21 adults and 15 students attended today's session. We were very happy with the turn out as we didn't expect this wonderful turn out. We would like to thank all our participants from the bottom of our hearts for making the time to come today, and help us make our program successful! First, we started with an ice breaker, the 'Name Game' to help introduce everyone to each other. This was a good introductory exercise. Next, the participants engaged in 'Discussion Circles' where we paired adults and students and gave them topics to discuss. We had a few rounds of these. For each round the students rotated, so they were able interact with new adult each round. This helped everyone really loosen up and comfortable speaking with one another! The main activity was 'Pictionary'. There was fierce competition between the two teams, but Team 2 managed to charge ahead winning by a crucial 1 point. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the activity. Finally, we ended the session with a survey to get a sense of the participants hobbies and interest. We will tailor future sessions according to the information we received. We plan to meet once a month, preferably on the 3rd Friday of each month. We are currently coordinating with the library to finalize our dates.
